Certification means a confirmation of the compliance of quality parameters to the level required by a quality standard.

Charity work means company activity involving disinterested transfer (free of charge or on beneficial terms) of property to citizens or legal entities, including monetary funds, disinterested performance of work, provision of services, rendering other support.

Collective Bargaining Agreement means a legal act that governs social and employment relations in the company and sets out benefits and guarantees provided at the employer’s own expense.

Corporate Social Responsibility Report (non-financial report) means a comprehensible, accurate and balanced description of the main aspects of the company’s operations and the results achieved in the areas related to the values, targets, sustainable development policy related to the issues key stakeholders may be most interested in. This is a public tool for informing shareholders, employees, partners and other stakeholders on how and in what steps the company implements the economic stability, social welfare and environmental stability targets included in its mission or strategic development plans.

Global Reporting Initiative means the independent organization with a mission to develop and distribute the Guidelines for reporting in sustainable development applied internationally.

GRI Reporting System means a generally accepted system of non-financial reporting in the area of sustainable development based on the company’s economic, environmental and social performance indicators. The System includes Sustainable Development Reporting Guidelines, technical protocols and industry supplements.

Environmental activities and conservation of resources means an area of the company’s programmes that are carried out upon the company’s initiative in order to reduce the environmental impact.

Mission means the meaning of existence, company purpose that distinguishes it from other similar companies.

Motivation means a way to influence the growth in performance and labour efficiency; a process of stimulating employee or a group of employees to perform the activities aimed at achieving the company targets.

Occupational Disease means an employee’s disease that originated and developed under the influence of a regular and long-term impact of industrial factors attributable to this profession, or a complex of working conditions characteristic only of the specific production.

Occupational health and safety means a system for ensuring health and safety of employees during their work activities, including legal, social and economic, administration and technical, hygiene and technical, healthcare and prophylactic, rehabilitation and other activities.

Personnel management processes mean an open personnel management system that includes all stages of interaction between the employees and the company starting from employee recruitment, adaptation and retention in the company and up to their retirement.

Programmes for support of development of local communities mean an area of the company’s social programmes that are carried out on a voluntary basis and are aimed to contribute to the development of the local community.

Risk means a threat of a negative impact of the external and internal factors upon achieving the company’s corporate targets.

Safe Working Conditions mean working conditions where the impact of harmful or hazardous industrial factors is excluded, or the level of such impact does not exceed hygiene standards.

Social Partnership means the interaction between employees (representatives of the employees), employers (representatives of the employers), state authorities and local government aimed at ensuring the agreement of the employee and employer interests in the issues related to regulation of labour relations and other relations directly related thereto.

Social Programmes mean the company’s voluntary activities involving personnel formation and development, establishing favourable working conditions, development of corporate culture, as well as support of the local communities and charity; the activities are regular, related to business structure and aimed at satisfying balanced requirements of its stakeholders. From the management point of view, a social programmes is a package of measures linking the resources, performers and implementation timeframe and ensuring efficient resolution of internal (internal corporate programmes) and external corporate tasks (external corporate programmes).

Social Reporting means an informational reflection of the company’s corporate responsibility using regular internal and external reports in the areas related to sustainable development.

Sightholders mean big and reputable purchasers of diamonds with control over the jewellery industry.

Standard means a regulatory and methodological document establishing a package of norms, rules and requirements to the object of the standardization.

Stakeholder engagement means company activities aimed to identify the expectations and concerns of stakeholders and have them involved in the decision-making process. 

Stakeholders mean physical persons and legal entities, or groups of entities that influence, or are influenced by, the company’s operations and have the right to bring direct claims against the company pursuant to legislation and international conventions. Stakeholders include company shareholders, investors, employees, suppliers, contractors, consumers, trade unions and other public organizations, state authorities and local government, mass media in the area of the company’s operation, etc.

Sustainable Development means a concept developed by UN and acknowledging the role of business in ensuring sustainable development of the community. The global community development concept that accounts for the interests not only of the living but also of the future generations (proposed at the Global Summit in Rio de Janeiro in 1992).

Young specialists mean university of vocational school graduates with a work record after graduation not exceeding three years.
